May 24, 2009 A Quick Fix
When my Xbox died from error E74 this past week, I was not pleased. Microsoft promised a turnaround time of 2-3 weeks for the repair, including travel time. While that is a lot quicker than their previous service guarantee of 5 weeks, it’s still way too long for a fellow to be without his system.
Microsoft received my console this past thursday at about 6pm. Being that the next day was a friday, and the last day of work before a holiday weekend, I fully expected the 2-3 week prophecy to come true.
At 11:42 PM yesterday, Saturday, just 53 hours after receiving my system, I got an email from Xbox saying my repair was complete and was being packed to ship home. At 4:42 AM, I got the email with the UPS tracking number.
So, to Microsoft, I would like to say the following….
While it’s pathetic that you released hardware with a fail percentage 30 points over the norm, I commend your service. Free shipping, free repair, and unbelievably quick turnaround time. Of course this isn’t everyone’s experience, but it has been mine. They really pulled through, and I can’t believe I’m saying that.
