Swedish people are good for all sorts of things. Like inexpensive furniture. Like Saab. Like cardamom bread.

The Sounds are a Swedish band that opened for Paramore, who opened for No Doubt, last weekend in Pittsburgh. “Ve’re the Soonds from Schveden,” she said, introducing the band.

Dave Grohl was wearing one of their T-Shirts in the “Times Like These” video, for both of you out there who still watch music videos. The band fits the mold for the tour by having a female singer (Maja Ivarsson) who is several levels of cool. They’ve been around for 10 years and have 3 albums, so it’s about time for you to have heard of them.

If Blondie were a modern synthpop / punk / new wave artist, she’d be The Sounds.
