July 31, 2009 Fallout 3 Achievement Issue – Update
After my last post, I received a few suggestions on how to solve the problem with two of my Broken Steel achievements showing up as completed in my console log, but not registering the points on the main achievement screen or on xbox.com. I mentioned being unaware as to whether or not the points were added to my gamerscore, and were simply showing up wrong in the list.
After manually adding all my points from my 126 played games, I can confirm the points for the Broken Steel achievements, Death From Above and Shock Value, while having been completed, were not added to my score.
Twitter user MagicWhiskey said he encountered a similar problem with The Pitt. The fix came in the form of deleting The Pitt from his console, then re-playing the missions to have them properly awarded.
It was also suggested I try recaching the memory on the unit, which hasn’t been attempted. Neither fix has been attempted yet, and I shall let you know my findings. Hopefully one works and my gamertag recognizes that it didn’t award me the points – considering the pair do still show up as completed when you look at the overall achievement list.

I have the same problem with Shock Value and Death From Above not unlocking properly. I tried Microsoft and got no help at all, they just said i must have cheated. I’m going to try to remove/re download Broken Steel. Clearing the cache didn’t remove the achievements locally for me, so i doubt they would have unlocked if i played through because they still showed up. I’ll let you know what happens, if you haven’t already sorted yourself.

I tried deleting, re-installing and re-playing Broken Steel. Didn’t work. I still haven’t found a fix.

I’ve just found how to correct this, and it’s pretty simple. You need to delete your profile from your xbox (but keep saves and everything) then recover it. Achievements that are not unlocked properly will revert to being locked and you are able to now acquire them properly! =D Luckily I had a save just before the 2 missions that didn’t work.

I finally tried what the last commenter said. Not sure why I waited 4 months but anywho… I still get a number of views on this post so maybe it is still an issue. Recovering your gamertag does work- you just have to replay the missions after you do. Its not going to automatically give them to you.
